v0 just went through a big rebuild. What started as a fast way to explore ideas has now evolved into a platform designed to ship real, production-ready software, not just quick demos or one-off prototypes.
v0 is no longer about generating code – it’s about helping teams ship. With this release, v0 moves beyond UI generation and into full, end-to-end workflows for teams: real environments, real data, proper security, and a clear path from idea to deployment.

What’s new in v0
Build directly against real codebases
Instead of generating code in isolation, v0 now works directly against existing repositories and real runtimes. You can import a GitHub repo, pull in environment variables and configuration, and generate production-ready code that lives where it belongs.
Git workflows simplified
v0 makes Git workflows accessible to everyone. Anyone on the team can easily open pull requests, preview changes, and deploy on merge. Previews are tied to real deployments, and shipping follows the same path as any other production change.
Security first
The new v0 is built on Vercel’s production platform, with security baked in from the start. Deployment protections, access controls, and enterprise-ready defaults make it possible to move fast without compromising on safety.
A foundation for agents
This release also lays the groundwork for what’s ahead. v0 isn’t just about apps and websites, it’s being built for agentic workflows where AI systems operate across real codebases, real data, and real infrastructure. The same foundations that make v0 viable for production apps today are what will make agents viable tomorrow.
Real apps need real data
The new v0 is built around real environments and real Git workflows: each chat maps to a branch, each branch deploys to its own environment. The next question is – what data does each of those environments run against?
Neon lets you treat your database the same way v0 treats environments. With Neon branches, you can create isolated copies of your database (including both schema and data) for each development, preview, or experiment. Every environment can run against its own version of the database, instead of sharing a single instance or relying on mock data.Because Neon is deeply integrated with Vercel, these database branches can be created automatically alongside your application environments. When v0 creates a new branch and deploys a preview, Neon can provision a matching database branch for that environment. Teams can test schema changes, run migrations, and work with realistic data, all without touching production.
Why Neon and v0 are a match:
- Database branches mirror Git branches. Each v0 environment can work against its own isolated database branch.
- Real data, from the start. Instead of relying on mocks or shared dev databases, teams can work with realistic datasets that behave like production without risking live data.
- Serverless Postgres, no provisioning. Neon branches are created instantly, without instances to size or infrastructure to manage.
- Scale to zero for previews and experiments. Neon branches don’t sit around burning money: when they’re idle, Neon scales them down automatically.
- A free plan that fits real projects. You can start building database-backed apps without committing to a paid plan on day one.
- Proven in production. Neon powers everything from side projects to large-scale systems, with tens of thousands of new databases created daily.
Start with a template, then ship
Neon is one of v0’s supported database partners, and you can wire Neon to your apps directly from v0. This tutorial shows you how:
The easiest way to start building with v0 is from a template. We’re building a growing set of Neon-powered v0 templates – you’ll find them all here: v0.app/@neonpostgres.
For example, here’s a template with the project from the demo above. This is just the starting point – from here, you can add authentication and create database branches for different environments.
v0’s relaunch is focused on helping teams build real applications with AI, using real workflows from day one. Try the new v0 experience and use Neon as the database behind your v0 projects.
